Fear is a reality that hasn’t happened yet, but it’s created and played out in our minds, often with varying outcomes. It can either block us or drive us forward, but harnessing that latter response is the real challenge. Fear resides deep in the subconscious, and many times, it doesn’t even reveal what it’s protecting us from. You need to access your inner mind to uncover that truth. Fear can be both healthy and unhealthy. It’s essential in some extreme situations – like fleeing from a tiger to save your life. But panicking during a flight or while driving? That’s a fear that shouldn’t take hold. When unhealthy fears arise, such as fear of rejection or criticism, our instinct is often to run. But running away only causes the fear to chase us faster. These fears are elusive, constantly shifting their form. Avoid one situation, and another fear will emerge to remind you it’s still there.
You Control Your Mind: Let Go of Unhealthy Fears

Real-Life Hypnotherapy Success: A Client's Journey

A woman in her late 50s came to me seeking help for her severe fear of flying. Her job required frequent travel, but the fear she experienced before each flight was overwhelming. She used medication and alcohol to numb her anxiety, but this left her feeling exhausted and unfocused during work meetings. She logically understood that flying was safe, yet every time the plane’s door closed, she felt panicked, dizzy, and out of control. In hypnosis, we traveled back to pivotal moments in her life to understand the origin of her fear. The first scene was when she was 8 years old, after the death of her beloved grandmother. Her family traveled overseas for the funeral, and during the long 9-hour flight, her mother cried uncontrollably, and her father drank to cope with the stress. She began to associate flying with suffering and helplessness, feeling unable to comfort her mother. She internalized the belief that flying was negative. The second scene revealed another traumatic event: her father’s death when she was 19. Just weeks later, she flew to the States for college, still grieving. This association between flying and loss continued, and she began experiencing panic attacks on flights. During the reframing process, we addressed these memories and helped her realize that losing a loved one is part of life and has nothing to do with the safety of flying. The breakthrough moment came when she recognized that her fear of flying was rooted in a deeper fear of not living her own life fully. Her grandmother and father never truly lived with passion, and she had unknowingly carried this sense of dissatisfaction. Once she made this connection, she was amazed at the power of her mind and how it had influenced her behavior. After listening to her personalized recording for 21 days, she took a trip to Costa Rica. Three months later, she reached out to share her life-changing news: “I decided to stay in Tamarindo. I got an offer to work here, and although it’s not the same pay, I’ve never been happier. I’ve finally started living my life, and I love flying now. Thank you for helping me change everything.”
Overcoming fears isn’t some magical or impossible task; it’s entirely possible and can be achieved in as little as 1 to 3 hypnotherapy sessions. The key lies in connecting with your subconscious mind, which holds onto those fears, fueling panic attacks, anxiety, and a sense of being overwhelmed. Even fears that have been part of your life for decades—whether 20, 30, or even 50 years—can be transformed and released, freeing you from their hold on your past, present, and future.
